Kaiserpfalz Barbarossaburg

The ruined Kaiserslautern Imperial Palace, also known as Barbarossa Castle and Kaiserslautern Castle, was once a magnificent building dating back to 1158. Information boards show the building history of the former Imperial Palace. Today, only a few ashlars from the foundation of the Kaisersaal and the remains of the masonry of the castle chapel remind us of this important building. Today's Palgrave's Hall stands very close to the town hall on a small section of the original Casimir's Castle and can be visited on guided tours. The tour through the approx. 70-metre-long underground corridors finally ends on the town hall forecourt.
