Ku'Damm

The Kurfürstendamm, as the Ku`damm is actually called, is home to renowned fashion, technology and jewellery brands. The shopping and strolling mile is known beyond its borders and offers a lot to see. Big names like Hugo Boss, Chanel, Prada and Gucci can be found here. But Apple, Tesla, Cartier, Bulgari and Rolex have also set up their flagship stores here. 
The trendy Ku`damm is located in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, a district of Berlin, and extends to other districts of Berlin. In Berlin's City West, Ku`damm is primarily a magnet for tourism and offers everything your heart desires in addition to gastronomy and retail. 
The Ku`damm was laid out in 1542 as a path from the Berlin City Palace to the Grunewald Hunting Lodge. It served as a bridle path for Elector Joachim II. The start of the expansion to a 53-metre-wide, paved street was made in 1875, after Otto von Bismarck had expressed the idea of turning Kurfürstendamm into a boulevard two years earlier. 
Because of its significance for the people and the city of Berlin itself, the Ku`damm is repeatedly mentioned in song, literature and film. In particular, themes such as the awakening of youth in the 1950s, homesickness for the Ku`damm and the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 find their way into art and culture time and again.
